Act and Write is learning to act by doing and writing it down. A fun class for children that awakens imagination, exploration, and possibility. The class involves basic acting exercises and individual writing activities that inform the creation of characters and situations. Participants come together virtually with their characters to create a scene and interact with each other.

EMOTE / Acting & Intent / Ages 12-15

Acting, Theater Games, Improvisations, Exercises
An exciting 4 weeks meeting via Zoom that brings the participant’s natural responses to given situations to inform how a character responds (acts). Theater games and exercises will be used to guide each participant in creating their own content, in the form of monologue or scene dialogue.

This program will focus on photography and video using smart phone cameras. We go over basic photography components and concepts through fun activities. Each week will focus on a different theme that will encourage students to look at everyday life with fresh eyes and to find the hidden poetry of their surroundings. The students will participate in an engaging and collaborative projects using photo, video and poetry that they can accomplish from home.
First 2 weeks: Photography

INTRODUCTION TO VIDEO GAME DESIGN / Ages 8-11

In this class, students will learn how to program and create their own video game using Scratch. They will learn the main concepts of programming. These concepts will later on be applied when they create their respective video games. The students will create small practice games before moving on to their final game. In addition to programming, the students will draw and design their characters/backgrounds for their game. These characters/backgrounds will be uploaded into their final game.
Class requirements:
– A Phone with a working camera
– An operating laptop/desktop (must be able to download Scratch and upload pictures)
– Drawing materials (pencils, markers, color pencils, etc.)
– A notebook
– Paper or a Sketchbook
– Consistent participation
