LEAD DANCE TEACHING ARTIST

A position is open for a lead dance teaching artist for danceLogic®, a weekly Saturday dance class for young girls aged 10-18, supported by a second teaching artist. This role includes creating choreography and developing lesson plans for students of varying skill levels, tracking student progress over the year, and facilitating curriculum. The ideal candidate will also collaborate with teachers on the coding side of the danceLogic® program to coordinate the curriculum.

West Park Cultural Center’s danceLogic® program is an innovative program that combines dance and coding, designed to engage girls in both dance and STEM. Established in 2018, danceLogic highlights the similarities between the two disciplines while building dance and choreography skills.

danceLogic® takes place at the Community Education Center (CEC) on Saturdays from the first Saturday in October to the second Saturday in June when the young ladies perform at the annual West Park Arts Fest. Participants, aged 10 to 18, take part in a 90-minute dance class followed by a 75-minute coding session. Dance teaching artists arrive at 9:30 am with dance class running from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. There are Saturdays when the class does not meet related to holidays and spring break.
