PROGRAM / EDUCATION MANAGER

West Park Cultural Center is looking to fill the Program & Education Manager position.  We are looking for someone who will be responsible for supporting arts program development and impact measurement.  The Program & Education Manager will support teaching artists and instructors with curriculum development, assessing learning objectives, and evaluating outcomes. The Program & Education Manager will also participate in outreach to communities, manage student online portfolios, and help build parent engagement opportunities, both in-person and on our website.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

    • Weekly virtual senior staff meeting (1 hour)

    • On-site support and observation for afterschool classes / Current on-site time commiment for afterschool programs on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday is 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

    • On-site support and observation for the Saturday class / 9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

    • Serve as manager of the organization’s Camp Ginkgo (4-weeks in July)

    • Monitor program attendance and follow up with parents as needed

    • Capture feedback from participants and parents  

    • Conduct outreach with schools, community groups, and other organizations

    • Create narratives that highlight the value of WPCC programs from the perspectives of both participants and parents.

Qualifications

    • Familiarity or professional experience with Arts Administration, Education, and Community Engagement.

    • Having strong organizational skills and attention to detail, anticipating and articulating administrative needs, and be able to work independently while conveying information and communicating with staff in a timely manner.

    • Strong interpersonal skills, and friendly demeanor with an ability to work with teaching artists, partners, students, and staff.

The Program & Education Manager works closely with the Executive Director.

Compensation

The Program & Education Manager position is a flexible part-time position with a fee pay rate of $20 per hour. Time required per week is approximately 16 hours, depending on need.

The 4-week summer Camp Ginkgo will be July 7 – Aug 1 / Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Compensation during the camp period will be $875 per week which also covers the camp staff meeting prior to camp starting, a nutrition program meeting, and the one-hour parent orientation.

Mission
West Park Cultural Center uses arts and culture as a central tool in programs that help children and youth tap into their creative and academic potential. West Park Cultural Center is where families can access the arts, education, and other programs that contribute to their personal development.

WPCC is a 501(C)(3) founded in 2001 with a donated space. In 2006, the donated space was no longer available, and the organization adjusted by developing and maintaining valuable venue partners for program delivery. The venues include the Community Education Center (CEC), Dornsife Center for Neighborhood Partnerships, Martha Washington School, and St. Joe’s Maguire Museum.  

Programs

Programs take place after school, on Saturdays, and four weeks in the summer (July).

– Afterschool includes Visual Art, Theatre Writing/Performance, and Guitar.

– Saturdays during the school year, has danceLogic® which combines dance and computer coding for girls

– Summer is our arts and nature Camp Ginkgo for four weeks

– West Park Arts Fest is an annual event on the second Saturday in June, featuring student and professional performers, art making, and more in West Fairmount Park.

Who we serve

The children and youth we serve are aged 5-18, predominately African American, some Latino, from low-income families. Our program participants come primarily from West Philadelphia; however, we are open to underserved and low-income children and youth from other areas of Philadelphia.
