We are seeking a dynamic teaching artist with experience working with children and youth in art. Drawing and painting are the focus, with the ability to incorporate other art media. This afterschool opportunity starts the first week in October with classes held twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 – 5:30 pm. West Park Cultural Center operates afterschool programming in West Philadelphia with participants ranging in age from 10 to 13. Class size will be limited to 15 students.
Requirements and Responsibilities

- Bring positive energy

- Develop thoughtful, engaging, and age-appropriate lesson plans focused on skill-building, creative exploration, and technique

- Demonstrate flexibility and professionalism in dynamic classroom environments

- Arrive at least 20 minutes before the start of class to prepare for the class

- Encourage students to participate in a cleanup at the end of each class

- Maintain clear and timely communication with the Program and Education Manager regarding supplies and curriculum

- Notify the Program and Education Manager as soon as possible regarding any delays in arrival or absences

Education Level

Compensation

- Pay is $60 per class plus an additional $20 per week for class preparation. Payment is every two weeks by echeck.
